Touring Sides
A great addition to our Fixtures List is the hosting of touring sides. Over the years and with the advent of low-cost air travel, we have become a very popular venue for visitors from abroad. Some of the clubs we have hosted so far are listed here.
Due to the nature of our club a social rugby club with a very transient membership our level of play varies considerably from one season to another, even from one match to the next! We welcome touring sides at any time during the season but note that we cannot host sides at Christmas and Easter since many of our membership use the holidays to travel back home or within Spain. Also bear in mind that every second Saturday of May we arrange a tournament in memory of one of the founding members of the club in which we invite two or three teams to take part. So, if you fancy playing more than one game while in Spain and the date works, this might be the weekend for you.
Due also to the drain on our club funds that the hosting of touring sides has meant in the past, it is now standard club policy to request the visiting club to contribute towards the costs of hiring of the pitch, about 150 to 200€ depending on venue, and for the post-match function, typically beer and pub grub held, at our local pub club house, 10 to 15€ per head.
In general, we shall be hosting sides based on a first come first served.
If you are interested in touring to Madrid, get in touch in; and once you have decided to come, we will be happy to help organize accommodation, transport to the pitch, entertainment, etc.
